About Me
What's up guys! My name is Nathen Deo and I am currently an alumnus from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Music. I plan on graduating from Cal State University, Long Beach with an MBA degree for the purpose of working in the Music Industry. I have a huge passion with music, specifically live events such as concerts and festivals. I believe in today's society, the aesthetic of music has allowed itself to reach society through more than the auditory sphere, allowing the usage of technology through music videos, podcasts, talk shows, and concerts enhance the experience of music.
The purpose of raDEO is for me to pretty much talk about anything music-related. I use this platform as a way for me to have an open conversation about music with anyone who wants to have one. I usually go through albums I haven't heard before and talk about the small concepts and images that come out through the lyrics of each song. I also use this blog to talk with upcoming artists about what makes music special to them. This is an excellent opportunity to not only talk about music and learn about new sounds but also connect with those who haven't had the chance to communicate their passions with music as well. Hip-Hop/Rap
A genre I got really into during my years in high school, this has always been my bread and butter in what I love analyzing and exploring. Some artists that have piqued my interest in this genre are Kid Cudi, KIDS SEE GHOST, Logic, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Flatbush Zombies, Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, XXXTentacion, Ski Mask The Slump God
Alternative / Rock
A genre I started listening to in my later years of high school but fully enjoyed during my undergraduate years at UCSB. As much as I love rap, nothing beats the authentic sounds that can emerge from a great band. Some artists I love listening to are The Strokes, Muse, The Drums, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, The Killers, Radiohead, Interpol, The Neighbourhood, Franz Ferdinand
80s / Pop
These are the genres I grew up with in my house. Aside from listening to Bollywood music with my family, my mom would constantly play music in her car and in the house which inspired my want to listen to more music as I grew up. Some artists that I love listening to are OMD, Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Prince, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, George Michael, etc. For pop, gotta say I was raised on Coldplay for as long as I can remember.
